Description
A substantial solid sterling silver tray celebrating the silver jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1977. It is etched with the royal arms and associated coats of arms along with the detail of the jubilee. The tray is very heavy for the size at close to half a kilo of solid silver and was clearly a very expensive commemorative piece at the time.
The hallmark is to the front and features the jubilee Queen's head mark along with the normal hallmarks. The makers mark is for the Yorkshire Mint, which was a very short lived operation which produced commemorative pieces in 1977 and 1978, perhaps specifically setup for the jubilee year.
At the size the tray would be suited for many roles, or simply be enjoyed as a decorative item.
Condition
Overall very good, light wear and some minor scratches to the face. Some wear and scuffs to the underside from normal use.
