Vintage Greek/Cypriot XEIPOΣ Silver Fruit/Sweetmeat Bowl with Rope Edge Rim (Code 2410)

Description

An interesting anomalous silver dish.  It is in the English style with a rope edge and decorative forms and has a double dished bowl.  It stands on three cast feet and could be used for small fruits, sweetmeats etc.

The interesting parts are the marks.  It was marked 925 and XEIPOΣ, with some other characters I can't quite make out.  This is one of the standard Greek silver marks you see.  But the silver mark has been crossed out and the dish is further stamped by the Cypriot Assay Office with their official mark and the 830 silver standard.  Out of interest I tested the silver myself and it does appear to be much nearer sterling standard than .830 from the acid test result.

Overall then it has an interesting set of marks which of course doesn't affect the look or use, just adds some mystery to it's beginnings.  It is probably mid 20th century in period.

Condition

Some light surface scratching and scuffs in places typical for normal use.  No significant knocks or dents and a nice looking item.
