Description
A 19th century cranberry glass decanter or claret jug with rope twist handle and etched detail. It dates to the Victorian period around 1860-70. The cranberry body has etched cloud and star detailing all over, and the applied disc foot is star cut. The rim is of trefoil style for easier pouring. The handle style is typical of items produced in the Stourbridge region, and this example may well come from this region. Lapidary stopper is a replacement, but the original was likely similar.
Condition
Stopper is a replacement, fit is not great (rotates when handled), but looks fine to display, and would be fine for use if drink is not stored long term in the body. Otherwise just minor wear and light fritting to stopper peg.
