Description
A pair of Victorian Whitby jet earrings. They consist of two polished beads with a carved bead on the end. They date towards the end of the 19th century and are fitted with ear wires which appear to be brass. There are no makers details which is usual for these items. To the connecting loop for the ear wire there are traces of black enamel which has worn away over the years although much of the black enamel remains to the end pins holding the pins onto the wire.
Whitby jet was generally used as mourning jewellery during this time.

Condition: Generally good for period. Some minor losses to the carved detail certainly won't notice in normal use due to the pattern. Wear to the black enamel on the wires.
