Description
An unusual pair of late 19th century mourning earrings. They combine Whitby jet lozenges with vulcanite detail. The suspension loop and the applied bead and loop are vulcanite. We don't often see mixed material examples from this period so these are an interesting find. They come with ear wires for pierced ears. There are of course no makers marks which is as expected for such items. As you can see in the images the vulcanite has gone the typical olive green tone over the decades whilst the Whitby jet is still black.

Condition: Minor age related wear. Original joins on vulcanite elements visible as expected. Vulcanite has gone olive green in tone. Slight nibbles around the edges of Whitby jet.
