Description
A pair of quality cut glass decanters dating to the William IV period c1835. The necks are prism cut as are the tops of the stoppers. The rest of the bodies and stoppers are covered with lens cuts and the bases are star cut. Decanters of this form were usually used for white wine or hock and became increasingly popular though the mid 19th century. This pair are larger than average, not quite magnum sized but they hold about 1200ml. Fine examples for display or careful use.
Condition
Very good for type and period, one chip to the neck as shown, other smaller nicks. Minor chipping and nibbling to the stoppers and the opening of the decanter where the stoppers are fitted. Some watermarking to bases, but nothing to spoil them.
