Description

A very nice pair of early 20th century Japanese scroll weights, either late Meiji or Taisho period.  They are quite substantial and cast in bronze with mixed metal detail to the scene.  The scene depicts cranes with the rising sun, a well known Japanese legend and they are marked beneath, the mark being cast into the bronze.  The final two characters are 香坊, as yet I have been unable to identify the first character.   Overall a very nice pair of well cast Japanese scroll weights which are significantly rarer than Chinese examples.  
 
 

Condition

Both in good period condition with no significant faults.  Slight burnishing at the edges, original patina.
