Description
An early 19th century black dot brooch set in silver with blue enamel. The style is generally attributed to the late Georgian c.1820 although it is possible they could drift into the early Victorian. The stones are black dot type which is caused by bitumen under the settings producing a small black spot to show through the stones. The gems in this case are all paste glass and the setting is silver. There are no marks however the metal tests as sterling grade silver. The pin and hinge are not silver.
Quite a rare find and a pleasing style and can also be worn today with care.

Weight: 8.32 grams (before packing)
Condition: Generally good for period. A small chip to the enamel outer ring a the 3 o'clock position on the lead image. Otherwise just some general wear as expected for period. Suspect the pin, hinge and C clasp are replacements.
