Description
An 18th century English lead glass wine glass dating around 1765. It features a rounded funnel bowl and a conical foot with a rough snapped pontil scar. The stem is a double series opaque twist with a central column and an outer pair of cords in spiral corkscrew form. The bowl is significantly larger than average for the period, not goblet sized but around twice that of the average for the period. The glass is of good quality for the time and has the grey tone typical of this period.
Condition
Very good for period with little wear for the age. Impurities are very low and the quality of the material is good. To the edge of the foot is an unusual feature with a small double lip at one point (caused during manufacture), this is shown in close up.
