Antique Victorian Polished Whitby Jet & White Metal Mourning Brooch c.1880 (Code A769)

Description

An antique Victorian mourning brooch. It dates to the late 19th Century and has three polished Whitby jet cabochons and a central paste clear gem.  The cabochons are set into a white metal surround with a rope twist band around the main cabochon.  The pin is a non safety type, typical of the period and protrudes beyond the edge of the brooch.

Condition:  Good for period with the jet in nicely polished order.  The hole in which the gem is set in is a little rough around the edges.  Pin and hinge are working fine. Typical light period wear to the metal. Cleaned, polished and ready to wear or gift.
