Antique Victorian Library/Study Parquetry Folding Book Tray/Carry Trough c1860 (Code 2679)

Description

A wonderful mid Victorian folding library book tray.  It would have been used in the library or study of a wealthy house, and dates around 1860.  It is made from walnut and has parquetry inlay to the base.  The handles are hinged and the back plate slides out so they can be folded down for storage.  The tray would be used for carrying your selected books back to your desk or study area, and of course returning them later.  You could of course use it for other purposes as it would work as a general tray as well. 

Condition

Very good for period, normal wear, scratches etc as expected for period.  A very nice and also rare item.
