Description
A mid 19th century oversized green glass rummer. It has a pan top style bowl with heavy ribs and a thick capstan stem and slightly conical foot with a ground and polished pontil. It is made of lead glass and is quite heavily constructed. During Georgian times this large rummers were somtimes used for serving (with a toddy lifter for example) and this may be the intention with this example. It doesn't seem quite large enough to be a novelty piece, but too large to drink from practically. It has plenty of wear to the foot so certainly has been used over time.
Condition
Generally good for period, plenty of wear to the foot, less so elsewhere. Some surface (open) air bubbles and some air bubbles trapped in the glass too.
