Antique Victorian Brass Letter Opener with Owl Handle and Glass Eyes (Code 1805)

Description

A delightful late 19th century Victorian period letter opener.  It is made of brass and has a detailed rendition of an owl forming the handles.  The owl has defined wings and feathers and amber glass eyes with black pupils.  There is also detailing to the reverse. with further feather detail.  The stem tapers down to the tip which is blunt for safety.    A very sweet item and perhaps a great present for the owl lover in your life.

Condition

Left in the patinated state with some verdigris. Age related wear and some softening to the detail through decades of handling and cleaning.  Stem slightly rippled.
