Description

An antique sterling silver pot.  It is set with a beautifully painted portrait of a Pre-Raphaelite young lady with long curly hair.  It is painted on copper and set into the lid. The jar itself could have been used for make up or to store a special jewel. The body has engine turning which has softened through decades of cleaning and handling.  The hallmark is rubbed but from the little we make out would appear to be late 19th century. 
 

Condition

Hallmark rubbed. Engine turned detail around body softened.  Portrait in very good order with a couple of scratches at the top.  A very pretty item.
