Description

An early 19th century Georgian period Staffordshire pottery jug.  It has a brown glazed ground and is printed in yellow with an elaborate design.  The main feature is the medallion to the front with an image of Admiral Lord Nelson with the famous remark 'England expects every man to do his duty'.  There are no makers marks and this design is non attributed.  It is known to have been produced around 1805 to 1810.  A similar example was sold at Bonhams London in the 5th of July 2005 sale.
