Antique Saphiret Brooch/Pin Butterfly Design Victorian 19th Century (A1351)

Description
A late 19th century Victorian period brooch or lace pin in the form of a butterfly and set with saphiret gems. The wings and abdomen are saphirets and the thorax and head are clear paste gems. The metal is gold toned but no precious. The wings are slightly articulated and there is a spring mechanism which allows some movement in the pins. This would probably originally be used on a lace neck tie or similar. The saphirets change from a peachy brown to a sky blue colour depending on the light and orientation. The paste gems are clear and sparkle in the light as expected. There are no makers details and these items are of course quite rare and sought after.

Condition: Good for period. Wear to the gold tone on the antenna and pins. Mechanism is quite delicate due to the age and construction.
