Description
A late 19th century brass clad stationery or letter box. It has elaborate decoration with shield shaped panels and embossed decoration. The lid is rounded over and has a small knob for opening. The interior is wooden and there are three main divisions with the rear compartment being further sub divided. The hinge runs the length of the lid and open right back for ease of access. The base has four small feet to keep the whole base off the desk. A great looking period example for the desk or study room.
Condition
Normal wear and aging, some knocks, dents and minor deformations. Some patina build up in the crevices, the original soldering joins inside the lid visible.
