Description

An Edwardian period vesta case.  It has an unusual heavy planished finish and the corners are gently curved.  It is quite slim sectioned and has a striking plate to the underside.  It is hallmarked for London 1903 and the makers mark is for Sampson Morden & Co. As befitting this high class silversmiths it is a very nicely made example with gilded interior and substantial suspension loop.  The repeat mark for the lid is on the exterior.  The spring mechanism is a post and tang giving a nice positive action.  
 

Condition

Very good for period. Minor wear only.
