Antique Calvert & Lovatt Langley Ware Stoneware Sgraffito Vase in Duck Egg Blue (Code 2466)

Description

A late 19th century Calvert & Lovatt period stoneware vase.  It has a duck egg blue slip coating cut back with sgraffito work to produce leaf forms.  There is gilt to highlight the veins and leaf detail.  The vase shape is inspired by the Chinese and it makes a very attractive piece.  Impressed marks to the base.

Condition

Very good for period, wear is quite limited.  Minor surface flaws from production.  The gold has come out rather orange under the photography lights and in reality is a more traditional yellow gold colour.
