Antique Amstel Porcelain Cup & Saucer Hand Painted Birds & Gilt Work c1800 (Code 2884)
Description
A late 18th or very early 19th century porcelain cup and saucer. Unmarked and attributed to Amstel of the Netherlands from the decoration and body form. A similar example with near identical gilt work can be found in the V&A Museum in London.
Both pieces are hand painted with a single bird on gilt branch work. The saucer is deeply dished with an angular rim. The gilt work is in very well preserved condition for the period.
Condition
Faint hairline through the lower handle (stress line). Wear is very limited. Slight kiln dust etc as expected for period.
