An Antique German Secessionist Glass and Silver Claret Jug/Decanter (Code 8482)
Description
A very early 20th century Secessionist style claret jug. It has a German standard 800 grade silver mount with stamped marks shown in the images for you. We have been unable to identify the silversmith in this case.
The style is secessionist with an angular handle and geometric form to the mount. There is a large thumblift and the hinge mechanism is working fine.
A stylish example of good size and holds well over a bottle of wine. The shape and style would also lend itself to being used from cocktails and lemonade as well as more traditional clarets and red wines.
Condition
Good for period. Minor wear an aging to the silver. Light wear to the body. No significant faults.
