Description

A pair of mid 19th century Victorian mantle / fireside dogs.  They are from the Staffordshire potteries and date circa 1860.  They are modelled with details to the body to simulate fur and have brushed detail to accentuate this.  They are probably intended as King Charles spaniels and are painted in dark grey with gilt collars, yellow details to the eyes and red detail to the mouth and nose.  
 
A nice attractive pair and not too large making them ideal for a smaller space. 
 
 
 

Condition

Good for period with some paint loss and rubbing of the gilt.  Minor production flaws as always for such pieces and they also have fine crazing.
