Description
A large William Moorcroft Art Deco period vase in the pomegranate pattern. Although it does not have the Liberty mark to the base this pattern and colourway was known to be produced for Liberty.
Interestingly the mustard glaze has been largely covered by the dominant blue/green around the top giving a slightly different aesthetic to the usual strong all over mustard tones. It also has quite a unpredictable glaze effect around the lower section as can be seen with the interaction of the colours.
The vase carries the William Moorcroft signature to the base and is also faintly impressed Moorcroft Burslem England and WM.
Condition
It has the usual crazing, and some heavier darkened crazing to the base. A firing fault to the foot rim, stable and due to position not visible to display. A run/drip of clear overglaze to one of the pomegranates, see image 2 although it is hard to detect. See images for overall glaze effect and reaction.
