Italian Pietra Dura Marble Panel - Grand Tour Antique Botanical Study c1850 (Code 2759)

Description

A lovely mid 19th century Italian pietra dura small panel with a botanical study.  White marble base with green stone and carnelian or jasper inlay.  The subject is perhaps a lily.  Note the shimmering leaf veins which are mother of pearl.  Items such as this were often collected during a Grand Tour of Europe.  It comes with the high quality solid brass display easel you see in the images.

Condition

Normal age related wear, minor edge chips and nibbles.  Old pencil marks to reverse.  Losses to the two upper leaves.
