Description

A very attractive late Victorian or Edwardian sewing or large jewellery box.  It is made of mahogany the the top two fascias being false and swinging up as a hinged section.  Inside is a lined sliding drawer and pads on the lids above (previously used as needle and pin cushion).  The two lower drawers are of standard form and have the same lining material.  It was previously used as a sewing box but would also make a generously sized jewellery box.

The style is that of a Georgian chest of drawers in a miniature form.  The handles are all original and match.  It stands on bracket style feet and is nicely constructed and would have been a quality piece in it's day.  A great piece for use or display.

Condition

Generally very good for period with typical period wear, minor knocks etc.  Shrinkage split in rear panel typical for period.  Lots of holes in the pads due to being used as pin cushions.  Small piece of bracing wood added behind one of the bracket feet.
