Description

A particularly fine custom made Royal Worcester dish.  It is of crescent shape and originally part of a dessert service.  The dish is finely hand painted and gilded with detailed work including roses, butterflies and a wasp. It also features the crest of the Scottish Walker family with the Latin moto 'Cura et Industria' (care and industry).  There is also the initials HOW hand painted in a reserve. 
 
To the underside it has the Worcester mark for 1895 making this a late Victorian piece.  There is also the retailers stamp Phillips's of Oxford Street, London (a high end retailer of the period).   This would have been part of a custom commission which would have been extremely expensive at the time and of course unique to the Walker family.
 
 

Condition

It has all over crazing with a few of the lines darkening and some of the thicker craze lines can be felt with the finger nail.  Wear is very restrained and overall it is a beautiful piece of Worcester hand painted work.
