Description
A French portrait miniature of a wealthy or titled lady. The style dates around 1780-1800 with a very formal rendering and stiff pose and hair. Note the attention to detail to the large ruby necklace and the fastenings to the bodice. It is set in a frame with quartered panels and pressed detail to the outer design. There is a suspension loop to the top. The rear is open and you can see the card backer and paper print to the frame.
Condition
Painting in good order, some flecks of dirt on the glass internally which could of course be removed. Some shrinkage splits in the frame covering. The back is open as you can see.
