Description

Derby porcelain shaped dish in an Imari pattern. It has a pie crust rim with small shell mouldings and the stylised floral based design with extensive gilt work. This example is a little unusual in also having a striking pink tone used as part of the palette replacing much of what is usually iron red. The hand painted Derby mark to the reverse is also more carefully done than usual for the period. The red painted mark generally dates the item from around 1780-1800. This dish is likely originally from a dessert service.

Condition

Remarkably good for being over 200 years old. Gilt wear is minimal for the age. Very minor glaze imperfections and firing flaws as expected for production of this period.
